This is your future

Climate breakdown, pollution and attacks on democracy are already shaping the world young people inherit. Too often decisions are made without them.

Advocates for the Future exists to change that. We use the law to protect people, nature, democracy and future generations. As a Youth Representative, you help build the movement behind that work - and make sure the voices of young people are heard in our campaigns, our community and, where possible, in court.

This is a voluntary role for young adults who want to stand up for climate justice, a clean and healthy environment, the rule of law and the rights of future generations.

Why YOU matter

Young people will live with the consequences of decisions being made today. Future generations cannot speak for themselves. They do not have a seat at the table, in parliaments, boardrooms, etc. They cannot stand before a court. But their rights and interests are at stake now.

Our Youth Representatives help Advocates for the Future bring young people and future generations into the heart of our work. They help us understand what is at stake for their generation. They connect our legal campaigns to communities. They build support around the cases we bring. And they help make sure our work is rooted in the voices, concerns and hopes of the people whose future is on the line.

Because the law can only protect the future if the future has a voice.

What you will do

What you will do

As a Youth Representative, you help build the community around Advocates for the Future and our legal campaigns. You may help with:

  • building and engaging a community of young people;

  • organising events, conversations and campaign moments;

  • speaking with students, youth groups and local communities;

  • helping us understand what young people need, fear and hope for;

  • supporting campaign actions around our legal cases;

  • contributing ideas for social media, storytelling and outreach;

  • representing the perspective of young people and future generations in our work.

This is not a legal role. You do not need to be a lawyer or law student. What matters is that you care about the major issues of our time - and that you want to help others get involved.
