An end for new oil and gas licences

There's no legal room for new gas fields

Every new gas field pushes the energy transition further out of reach. Yet the Dutch State keeps approving new fossil fuel projects instead of investing in a clean future. New gas fields are incompatible with climate action and increasingly difficult to justify under the law. That's why we say no to new gas fields.

We don't need new gas fields

We have enough gas fields already. The International Energy Agency has concluded that existing oil and gas fields are sufficient to meet global energy demand in a 1.5°C pathway. Nevertheless, the Dutch government continues to promote and approve new gas extraction projects in the North Sea. Every new permit locks in fossil fuel production for years to come. We cannot let this happen.
